Wan-Jen HUANG

Wan-Jen Huang obtained the Master Degree in Composition from National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). She has studied in the music department of NTNU, music talented class of Stella Matutina Girl’s High School. Huang majored in piano and composition. She studied piano with professor Li-Ying Huang and Siou-Dao Tsai, and studied composition with professor Chin-Yow Lin, Shing-Kwei Tzeng and Mao-Shuan Chen.

Huang’s creation concept is pure and fresh, and the style of her composition is delicate and elegant. Her works include chamber, percussion, vocal music, chorus, piano music, musical and opera. The piano works were oftentimes assigned to numerous musical competitions in Taiwan. The percussion works were constantly performed on international music festival.

At present, Wan-Jen Huang dedicates to music composition and education. Now she teaches in music department of National Taichung University of Education, music talented class of Stella Matutina Girl’s High School and music talented class of Taichung Municipal Shuang Shih Junior High School.

1995：Commissioned by Ju Percussion Group to compose “Flame Dance” and “Water Fairies” for marimba solo for 6 mallets, and were premiered by principal, Pei-Ching Wu, at National Concert Hall.
1996：Commissioned by Ju Percussion Group to compose “Adventure” for percussion quintet, and was premiered by Amsterdam Percussion Group on “1996 Taipei International Percussion Convention” (1996TIPC) at National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
1997：The chambers, “Foggy Forest” and “Snow”, were premiered at Taichung Chung-Hsin Hall.
The marimba concerto, “Flame Dance”, was performed by Pei-Ching Wu and Amadinda Percussion Group in Hungary.
1998：“Hope and Peace”, a Taiwanese musical, was premiered at Chia-Yi Culture Center.
2000：“Gold Strife”, a Taiwanese opera, was premiered at Chia-Yi Cultural Center.
2001：The chambers, “Dancing Fairies” and “Sound Magic”, were performed in Yuanlin Performance Hall.
2003：Commissioned by Taipei Percussion Group to compose the percussion quartet “Escape the Boundary”, and was premiered at Novel Hall for Performing Arts.
2004：“Intersect”, a percussion duet, was premiered at National University of the Arts.
2005：“Sound Magic” was performed on “2005 Cheer Formosa International Choral Festival” at Yuanlin Performance Hall. Commissioned by Pei-Ching Wu to compose “Moonlight beyond Woods” for marimba solo for 6 mallets, and was premiered on “2005TIPC-Asian Women Marimbists Concert”.
2007：Commissioned by Taipei Percussion Group to compose a percussion musical, “The Wizard of OZ”, and was performed at the Metropolitan Hall of Taipei Cultural Center.
2010：“Adventure” was performed by Amadinda Percussion Group on “Budapest Spring Festival” in Hungary.
2012：Commissioned by Taipei Percussion Group to compose a quartet for percussion and classical guitar, “A Beauteous Land”, and was premiered at National Concert Hall.
2014：Commissioned by FATE Percussion Group to compose for percussion and clarinet and basson, “Play with scale”, and was premiered at Cultural Center Chih-Shan Hall of Kaohsiung.
2016：Commissioned by Taipei Century Choir to compose “The River of Life”, and was premiered at National Concert Hall.
2017：Commissioned by T. U. Percussion Ensemble to compose “Listen to me”, and was premiered at Performing Arts Center of National Taichung University of Education(NTCU).
